In August 2009 I took voluntary redundancy from a company where I’d worked for almost twelve years.
I’d seen many faces come and go, but in the last six years of working there, there had been little change, and we became more like a ‘family’
I kept in touch with my ‘family’ and each Christmas I was invited to the staff Christmas party.
Other have since left, and the Christmas party became more like a reunion of staff old and new.
This photo is from the 2012 party.
I heard yesterday that the company has now gone into administration.
I wish all my ‘friends’ the very best in whatever direction they go, but one thing we must do though, is resolve to continue with the Christmas party/reunion.

Everyone’s looking very cheery there
and a lot of clean plates, so must have been a decent meal. Typical christmas fare judging by the sprouts?
Nice warm christmas colour from DT too. Nip over to p&k’s and collect the first prize medal from her (I passed it on after her flower pic colour!)
It was a fixed price menu with a choice of courses. Very tasty and well cooked. The sprouts were perfect, unlike some places we’ve been in the past.
I loved DT’s colour too, I’d have been shocked if this had been grey though.
So what’s this first prize medal? I noticed you’d awarded P&K for her recent post
My pet gripe about sprouts is putting crosses in the bottom (just why???) and cooking them to death. How to put people off sprouts in one easy lesson.
The medal is virtual of course, although I’m sure between you, you and p&k could design one, except she doesn’t accept awards. However after your joint grey posts for the my pix of the year thing, she told me I had won with my lovely green (not much of a competition really
). So I kindly passed on the first prize to her for her pinky/purpley flower pic
My exact gripe too. These were still firm with a nice crunch to them.
Ah, I remember your lovely green and P&K’s comments now
That’s a lovely tradition to keep up with! Hope it will continue..
It’s sooner than I thought.
We are all going out again fairly soon for old times sake, as the company has now folded completely
Sad. Happened to my first work place too. I worked there for twelve years. Long time ago now, but as it was my first, it was special.
That didn’t take long V
From admin to receivership in a few seconds.
I know
I felt a real pang of sadness
what a wonderful photo, and how sad to hear of the plight of your old place of employment. hope everybody is able to find new work quickly!
